Our amuse-bouche of melon sorbet with a small slice of jamon jabugo was an excellent cold start with the palate-pleasing mix of sweet and salty. This was followed by the foie-gras millefeuille of alternating thin slices of duck liver, smoked eel and green apple with a caramelized sugar top. The wine's sweetness complemented the rich duck liver and eel while the tartness of the green apple gave the dish the flavor twist it needed.
We continued on with a Marques de Padierna from Ribera del Duero for our main courses - roasted pigeon breast for A & K, the Iberian roast pork with jabugo mayonnaise for C and the delicious roasted paletilla de cordero (lamb shoulder) which came with a crisp cochinillo-like (suckling pig) skin and fork-tender meat. Dinner ended with three desserts to share: a chocolate souffle with coffee ice cream, apple tart with green apple sorbet and pineapple carpaccio, plus espresso all around. A pleasant evening and a delicious dinner with new-found friends.
This week, our first guests arrive (my brother in-law and family) and the summer season officially begins with parties, openings and events so watch out for the coming weeks posts on the Marbella summer.
