Casco Antiguo

Sundays in southern Spain are quiet days -stores and supermarkets are shut errands can't be run and things can't be bought. The good thing about this is that it forces one to relax and find quiet things to do.

One of these is to take a walk along the Paseo Maritimo - the boardwalk in Marbella. It's also a good day to meander around the cobble stoned Casco Antiguo (old town) which is probably the most quaint part of the whole town. The shops in the old town are deceiving with their overstocked window displays but have some amazing Spanish brands. On Plaza de Africa you can find well-known designer shoes from Pedro Garcia, Magrit, Camper and Pons Quintana. There are also a few specialty leather goods stores. Any of the cafes on the Plaza de los Naranjos or the packed Cafeteria Marbella on the Alameda are perfect for a coffee or a cool drink and lots of people-watching. Of course, there are also lots of beaches to while the day away in the sun.
