Paris: Day 1 - A walk down memory lane

We got up at 4:00 a.m. to catch the first flight out of Malaga for Paris and arrived on time to a clear, sunny day of -1C (a big change from warm Marbella). Straight to our hotel in the 16th arrondissement near the Trocadero, unpacked our bags then off we went to explore the neighborhood. My husband and I have many memories of this arrondissement - he did an internship at this same hotel many years ago and lived in the area near Passy while I was living with my sister, also in the 16th, but further up in Michel-Ange Auteuil. To think that we were living in Paris at around the same time and in the same district and now are back here again after more than twenty years. The streets have many memories - the familiar bus route, the church on the Place Victor Hugo where we heard many a mass and the chic boutiques that spread out from the Place towards the rest of the 16th and towards the Arc de Triomphe. We stopped for a mid-morning brioche then continued onwards to the Avenue de la Grande Armee and jumped into a cab to take us to our lunch reservation at Benoit in the 4th arrondissement right by the Hotel de Ville and Tour St. Jacques. After lunch, we walked across the Hotel de Villa towards Notre Dame until we reached the Blvd. Saint Germain. (All about Benoit in my next post.)

I have very fond memories of your flat in Paris! So many fun nights spent there... I even remember your cranky concierge!

I still remember our address - at the end of rue Lecourbe (Paris's longest street). Those were definitely fun times! Can you belive that was 15 years ago?
